Gary L. Hall comes from a middle-class family in the Sacramento California area. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University in the sciences, with minors in chemistry and philosophy. He currently lives in the Monterey/Salinas area with his wife, two elementary school-aged children, and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

As a self-identified generalist with an established track record of value generation, I am moving on to Act II of my professional life, founding Fieldstone Hall LLC in 2024 to buy a small business to own and operate. My early career comprised operations and back office roles that led towards investment and wealth management. Upon finding my way to Fisher Investments, I worked to become an equity research analyst. I used that experience to become a portfolio manager for FutureAdvisor (Y-Combinator, Sequoia) which was then acquired by BlackRock in 2015. I spent 2015-2024 as a Director at BlackRock first as a portfolio manager working with algorithms and PhDs in quantitative portfolio managment while scaling portfolio operations. Later I spent multiple years in the technology product organization, Aladdin.
From 2011-2015 I completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and maintain it currently, which covers all manner of investment structures/products, analysis, and modeling. From 2017-2022 I achieved and maintained a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, learning much about corporate types and concerns, and estate complications for entrepreneurs.
My career is built on a foundation of blue-collar work ethic and blending business insights with technology to transform businesses and products. I thrive on innovation and efficiency.
Utilizing experience as an investment analyst but not seeking business in that segment specifically, my expertise spans finance, strategic management, vision setting, competitive analysis, and operational scaling. Leadership that doesn't depend on title and vertical collaboration are at the core of my approach, guiding teams through complex projects to change with market pressures. I always maintain a focus on cross-functional partnership, risk mitigation, and valuing/developing every level of the organization.
